Our Land
The Azienda Agricola Giarola is located in Palazzolo di Sona, in the province of Verona, among the soft hills, near Lake Garda. On shorter days, from the vineyards of Monte Cristo, you can glimpse the shimmering water of the Lake. These moraine lands are of particular historical importance because they find their origins in the glacial period of the Quaternary when the ice withdrew, crushing rocks and debris transforming them into clay and fine grained, ideal for growing vines and therefore producing fine wines. The mild and temperate climate and the strategic position in the Garda hinterland, where the embroidery of the sun and breezes carve out the right climate for a luxuriant vegetation, and are the determining factors that led to the designation d.o.c. and d.o.c.g. of the company’s production land.
Our vineyards
“Respect for the Environment and love of the Nature”. With these firm principles the company has always managed to keep up with the times and to be careful about the new developmenst in this sector. The majority of the 35 hectares of vineyards of the family have been renovated, and replaced with the double curtain system with density a of 6000 plants per hectare, which guarantees a great quality and requires low water availability. New techniques are introduced, such as the inclusion of the controller irrigation method under the crown in case of drought to avoid stress to the vines, maintaining the quality of the grapes intact. Repeated analysis of the soil and leaves is of considerable importance to ensure the correct presence of all the nutritive elements necessary for a balanced development of the plant.
